Actress Tayo Adeniyi has advised single women in their late 30s and 40s not to allow societal pressure to push them into marriage or motherhood.
In a message directed at women who have not yet found partners or had children, Adeniyi urged them to stop making marriage and children the centre of their lives, stressing that a woman can live a fulfilling and meaningful life without either.
According to her, women who have made efforts to find a partner but have not succeeded should learn to accept their circumstances and focus on building lives that make them happy.
She said: “You do not have to get married. And you do not have to have kids also. If you're in your 40s and you've tried your best to find a man to be married, or perhaps you're married and you haven't got any kids, please, I beg you. You can be whole without these things.”
The actress also warned women against tolerating unhealthy relationships simply because they are desperate to get married or have children.
“Don't put up with nonsense because you want to be married or because you want to have children. Don't. It's not worth it,” she said.
Adeniyi encouraged women to prioritise their happiness and personal fulfilment, insisting that having a husband or children should not determine their worth.
“You can be happy without children. You can be happy without a husband. Life has changed. Season has changed,” she added.
She concluded by urging women in their late 30s and 40s to focus on living their lives rather than constantly worrying about marriage and motherhood.
